Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has had his car seized by
police after he was arrested on suspicion of fraud in relation to
driving offences, scotsman.com reports.
The 26-year-old was stopped on Wednesday near the club's training
ground. Following this, Tiote's car – a customised Chevrolet Camaro
estimated to be worth around £75,000 – was seized.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "At about 1.30pm on 12 February,
a car was stopped on Benton Park Road, Newcastle, anda 26-year-old man
was arrested on suspicion of fraud in relation to driving offences."
Tioté, who just returned from AFCON, is expected to play against
Metalist Kharkiv despite the arrest.
